Movie Review: Abduction

Starring: Taylor Lautner, Lily Collins, Alfred Molina, and Sigourney Weaver

Abduction is Lautner’s only movie where he is the main character of the movie. In the Twilight series, Valentine’s Day, and even Shark Boy and Lava Girl Lautner was part of an ensemble cast, where he had the support of other stars to lean on. Here, he has to stand alone. But unfortunately, he didn’t stand very tall at all. The script isn’t anything that hasn’t been seen before. There aren’t really any unexpected turns or surprises. It flows very much the way you would expect it to. Lautner even appears shirtless (nice… but expected lol). In my opinion, Lautner should just wait until the Twilight series has ended to start making other movies. At least movies that he is expected to carry on his own. I feel after that he will be able to be taken as a serious actor. I mean the kid can act. He has a little depth and range in his emotion so I don’t think it’s his ability as an actor that is holding him back.

I’m not gonna hate on the movie. I enjoyed it. But I don’t think you will be heartbroken if you wait until its video release. Sorry Lautner, I’m Team Jacob you know that, but if you are gonna do something before your major franchise has finished make sure that it is going to be memorable… for a good reason. Check it out for yourself and let me know if you agree or disagree!
