Wednesday Already!

Just a random post here for you. Nothing too significant going on today. It’s raining. Thought I would take a chance to catch up on some media. TV shows, new music, and things of the sort. Still haven’t seen Alphas season finale yet. I hear it’s EPIC! Heading up to my room in a little bit. Maybe do some sketching. I feel an inkling of creativity coming on. Why not nurture that little seedling? This week is FLYING by. Friends birthday party this week. Next week Lisa Lampenelli! As I previously said to someone today, “Man, time sure does fly by when you don’t know what day it is!” Tomorrow’s PayDay…. Oh and I’ve been playing this song all day today. It honestly must be my Latino DNA synching with this track because it seriously makes me want to get up and DANCE!! Good for you Gloria Estefan!

Music Monday: Fear of Flying/Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence

So I’ve been racking my head all day about what to share for Music Monday and even though Monday is almost over… here it is. It’s 3 videos that give you a little insight into how a track is made. For instance the track you hear on an album may not have even been intended for that artist at all! Or ever wondered what it would sound like with some one else singing it? Chances are some one else has done a demo for it and it exists online somewhere. Here is one example.

Brandy sings a demo of “Fear of Flying” …

For Alexandra Burke…

Who doesn’t end up using the song. But as an added extra notice how  Utada Hikaru’s “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence” Samples the same beat as the other 2.

Movie Review: Abduction

Starring: Taylor Lautner, Lily Collins, Alfred Molina, and Sigourney Weaver

Abduction is Lautner’s only movie where he is the main character of the movie. In the Twilight series, Valentine’s Day, and even Shark Boy and Lava Girl Lautner was part of an ensemble cast, where he had the support of other stars to lean on. Here, he has to stand alone. But unfortunately, he didn’t stand very tall at all. The script isn’t anything that hasn’t been seen before. There aren’t really any unexpected turns or surprises. It flows very much the way you would expect it to. Lautner even appears shirtless (nice… but expected lol). In my opinion, Lautner should just wait until the Twilight series has ended to start making other movies. At least movies that he is expected to carry on his own. I feel after that he will be able to be taken as a serious actor. I mean the kid can act. He has a little depth and range in his emotion so I don’t think it’s his ability as an actor that is holding him back.

I’m not gonna hate on the movie. I enjoyed it. But I don’t think you will be heartbroken if you wait until its video release. Sorry Lautner, I’m Team Jacob you know that, but if you are gonna do something before your major franchise has finished make sure that it is going to be memorable… for a good reason. Check it out for yourself and let me know if you agree or disagree!

Fall Television

With Fall comes the r turn of some of our favorite tv shows. Summer has gone by FAST and thank God because I had a craving for some GLEE! And although Alphas has been out for a few weeks it’s keeping me tuned in to see what happens next. PLUS it was good news to hear it had been green lit for a second season. ANOTHER  show that I am definitely excited for is Modern Family. It is such an amazing show if you haven’t seen it. Here are the three shows and a little bit about them:

Alphas: Currently still on its first season, Alphas is about a team of super powered humans working for the government. Their mission? Track down OTHER super powered humans. The cast is wildly diverse with my favorite character being Gary. One thing that sets this show apart from other ‘super hero’ shows is the powers they have aren’t always ones that have been done before. That, and their powers are explained in a scientific manner. Instead of just being accepted. Tune in to the Syfy network on Mondays 10/9c.

Modern Family: It’s third season premieres tomorrow and is on Wednesdays at 9/8c. Modern Family takes a look at 3 families and how they are connected to each other. The show includes multiracial, same-sex, and cross generational couples. It is hilarious and usually has pretty good themes. My favorite character? Gloria Delgado-Pritchette, the voluptuous fast talking Colombian.

GLEE: It’s third season premieres TODAY. Airing Tuesdays 8/7c. Set at McKinley High School, it’s about the glee club members trials and tribulations. The characters also have a wide range of diversity. Laced with pop music covers and now original music, Glee is a rollercoaster of emotions! Especially anything that has to deal with Kurt and his Dad! I cry every time…

So be sure to check out some of the above shows if you haven’t already. Let me know what shows YOU are looking forward to watch!

Music Monday: J Lo – Papi

Welcome to another Music Monday. Today I’ve brought you the new video to J.Lo’s 3rd single “Papi”  from her 7th studio album entitled Love?. Although I thought her album would’ve been a little stronger, she did have some good dance tracks. “Papi” is a fun video. You can tell she isn’t taking herself so seriously. She does break out in dance (but a little). I’m sure you will find something you like. Enjoi!

Long Live the King…

In 1994 The Lion King by Disney made its way into theaters. I was 8 years old… 17 years later I’m almost 25 and the movie is still so moving. Maybe even more so now that I can truly appreciate it in its entirety. So when I heard the movie was returning to theaters in 3D I knew I wouldn’t be passing up this opportunity. I could certainly have watched The Lion King in the comfort of my own home but there is something about watching a movie in the theater that has always appealed to me. It’s the experience, the atmosphere. It makes it THAT much better. I wasn’t really going for the 3D format as I haven’t really been sold on it yet. There hasn’t been a movie yet where 3D made the experience, and this was no exception, but I digress.

There was a surprising turnout of movie goers that night. All ages. All races. Parents with their kids. And Couples. Which just goes to show you how Disney’s movie magic brings us together. Right before the movie started there was complete silence… a static like anticipation that could be felt by everyone… and then….

“NNNNNAAAAAANTS INGONYAMA BAGITHI BABA!!!!!” (Yes those are the actually lyrics, I had to look them up!)

And everyone came alive. It was amazing! One of my favorite parts were the younger kids sitting on one side of me. Even though I don’t really like sitting next to anyone I don’t know (especially kids) it was an added treat to see them enjoying a classic movie that I had fell in love with almost 2 decades ago! When the movie ended it received thunderous applause. I recommend going to see this masterpiece in the theaters for its limited 2 WEEK run. Take your kids to see it, ESPECIALLY if they have never seen The Lion King before. Don’t deny them this magical movie!

Fall Fashion – 2011

So Fall is definitely here (if you hadn’t notice by how COLD it is outside) and that means it’s time to break out the sweaters, hoodies, long sleeves, jeans, and anything else that will keep you warm. Personally, fall fashion is probably my favorite despite it being cold. I really enjoyed layering my clothes but it would get a little too hot to do that in the summer. Oh and don’t get me started on scarves! They are my ABSO-FAV! Here are a few trends that you fan expect to see:

Design By: Marni

Women’s Fashion:

      • 70’s fashion is very much the decade in style at the moment. Polka dots, bright colors, capes, and poncho’s are something you want to keep in mind. Also, fur trimming will be big on the scene. I’m not an animal rights activist, but try to keep to faux-fur please 😉 On the shoe front, those stacked heels are going to look best with your flared out jeans and midlength skirts.

Design By: Etro

Men’s Fashion:
  • Plaid is where it’s at! Blazers, vests, sport coats, Letterman jackets  and varsity cardigans for the college crowd. Don’t be afraid to put on some BOLD colors. Even when it comes to you pants and socks! And don’t forget to strap on a pair of boots whether its commando, buckled leather, or you’re dressing up.
So how are you decking it out this fall and where will you be picking up these trendy items?! Comment below or on our Facebook fan page!
